| Well, I have the chairs too...they were special orders to match the bench...I'm just savin' my pennies for 2 stools with the backs on them..@ $350 a pop...eeek, it may be awhile. So, as far as guitars...all.........good lookin' stuff! For me, every week I "browse" thru the guitar store while the daughter is taking her lessons and listen to guys playing them...then peek over at the school of rock... | |

Hi ScottS,
what for a guitar is it between these two Gretsch beauties? From the Headstock I would say, it's a Fender, but it could also be a copy.

| Yes, it is a 5120, I made a ton of mods to it: -Sperzel Tuners -Gretsch Filtertrons -Space Control Bridge -Dice -1"Bigsby Spring
It plays like a dream, unfortunately i dont have an amp just yet so Im using a Line 6 computer program that i rigged to simulate a somewhat nice rockabilly sound. Im shopping around for a fender frontman 212.
Its all about Hot rods From cars to guitars!!!
Check out all my mods and somewhat how I did them: https://s259.photobucket.com/albums/hh287/erlomd1/?albumview=grid

Hey Tommi, by the way...real cool Gear!!! Love that gretsch!! Thank you. The 6117 was original a sunburst model with 2 HiLotrons.."made in usa" is stamped on the back of the headstock.I think it was one of the last guitars Gretsch made before Baldwin company took over Gretsch.(or maybe one of the 1st guitars "made" by Baldwin because of its stamp back on the headstock.) The serial number is 97101( 101st guitar made in september 1 96 7)I purchased it in 1995 in Cologne.I really like the zero fret feature. I did a lot of mods to it, too. DeArmond Pickups, Schaller machine heads, Bigsby B6 Vibrato kit custom bindings around headstock and f-holes Standby Switch(like late 60s Country Clubs and Vikings) Greets, Tommi

| HEY GANG! My name's Pete and I play a tangerine Setzer Hot Rod that I bought sight unseen in Macari's London in '99 and then had to wait to get it shipped over to me in Adelaide, Australia as the guitar had'nt arrived in time for me to bring it back on the flight home!! Apparently, Hot Rods had just come out and were pretty thin on the ground. The story I got was that mine was being used as a promo going to different shops to show the differences between a Hot Rod and a Setzer Signiture. I play through a '96 Fender Blues Deville 4x10, use Danelectro Dan-Echo, Cool Cat, Daddy-O and Fab Tone pedals but more often than not I play through a TS10 Tube Screamer and Ibanez Digital Delay. I also play a late '60s black Hofner Les Paul style ( that has been signed by Brian, Slim Jim, Tommy Emmanuel, Darrel Higham and Hershel from Chris Isaak's band ) with real early Seymour Duncan pickups, a BIG!!!! black single cut away Tamaki archtop that I customized with Schaller Tune-O-Matic bridge, Schaller locking tuners, straploks and some really weird Ibanez square pole pick ups, a red early '70s Yamaha offset twin cutaway semi acoustic with funky black plastic pickups, real f-holes with black plastic coverings to cut back feedback and a Bigsby style tremolo. I also play through a little Vox Pathfider 15R amp, that is a really great little amp! As you can see, some of the stuff is not really considered Rockabilly, but I think that Rockabilly music is more about the feel than having all the "right gear". Anyways, would love to hear about any other odd or unusual guitars, amps or effects combos out there. Cheers Pete. P.S. I have a Strat style Pearl guitar that I want to hot rod, any suggestions??? | |
