| Hillbilly Casino was good, but my favorite definitely was Dibbs Preston & The Detonators. I bought their CD after the show and the guys were all out there signing them - they were the nicest guys! I love the CD, too. | |

| At one of the New Years Eve shows (95? 96?) I discovered The Reverend Horton Heat. I've been a huge fan ever since | |

| Don't ask me for dates etc, I remember seeing them 1st time in 81 I think at Manchester Uni. There was about 3 other bands on, just remember loads of punks and cheap beer. Indigo Swing were good. Phantom Chords, there was loads of goths obviously wanting to to see Dave Vanian, I remember they had a cover version of John Leyton's Johhny Remember Me out at the time. Guana Batz...........say no more !!! Cat House Creepers, not keen on them so having to see them 3 times in as many days didn't really do it for me, just my opinion. The guys are/were also in a band called Cat Pack who billed themselves as the the next best thing to the BSO...........Hmmmmmmm don't think so, again just my opinion. | |

| I saw The Barracudas at Swansea Top Rank in 1981. They had just had their only hit single "Summer Fun" in the charts and they didn't even play it. They were awful, so after the first two songs, my mate and I went out into the foyer. We could still hear how useless they were mind you!!
'Indigo Swing were the sharp dressed swing band that Michael refers to above (London 1999). I saw that gig and they were one of the best. I hated The Cathouse Creepers, and really wished I had gone to the Shepherds Bush 2004 gig because the support with the pretty female singer are Hillbilly Moon Explosion. They are tremendous. Check out their song "Maniac Lover".
They large Ska trumpet band that supported the 68 Comeback Special in Shepherds Bush a few years ago were appalling and were constantly booed by a strong RAB audience. I actually felt a bit sorry for them!!!
King Kurt supported the Stray Cats at the London Lyceum in 1983 and were hilarious, even if I am not the biggest Psycho fan. The other band thet night were some kind of alternative punky act - London Beat??? and they were atrocious.
I saw The Long Tall Texans do support for the Stray Cats at Kentish Town, London once and they are an excellent Psycho/Ska band who I have seen again quite recently. Well recommended.
I've seen the Stray Cats so many times that I forget who else, but I do remember seeing more poor bands than good ones in support. I don't understand why a non RAB support is eber booked for a RAB band. It doesn't make senes and is never fair on the band who get booed or have things thrown at them more often than not.

| I've gotta agree with Fluke and say Indigo Swing (Michael they were the guys that supported the BSO at the Empire 12th March 1999). I'll always be grateful to my brother Gav for noticing the ad in the paper. It was my first time seeing Brian live and I was totally blown away... Sleepwalk is a moment that I'll never forget. Anyway, Indigo Swing were a superb opener and really got the crowd warmed up. Hey Tommy and everyone. Love the new message board T and the emoticons | |

| Hey Dave, Jesse James were "support" at Shepherds Bush Empire and they were DROSS. I think The Wurzels were a good opening act in Bristol some time around 85 Banksy | |

| Great Question! I've been disappointed by so many of the opening acts who feel they need to play really loud in order to be good.
Like most people, I was really impressed by the Slaptones and was upset to find that their CDs are not available in the US.
My favorite opening act ever was a jump blues band called the Mighty Blue Kings. I don't know the year but I saw them open for the BSO in support of Guitar Slinger at the Skyline Stage in Chicago. To be honest, they blew the BSO off the stage that night. It might have had something to do with the acoustics but you couldn't hear Brian's guitar at all that night while the MBK came through loud and clear. Since then they've gone through some lineup changes and have pretty much stopped playing live except for a handful of shows each year. They're a local group so they might have only opened that show on the tour but I was glad I was able to catch them when I did.

| Remembered a fun trio from Denver called the Hillbilly Hellcats who opened up for BSO a few times in Boulder and Denver (Greely and Ft. Collins?) and thereabouts back in the day. Chuck Hughes plays a Gretsch and can really rip it. You can listen to some of their songs on their MySpace page - myspace.com/hillbillyhellcats | |

| The best support I ever saw was at the UNO Lakeside in '99. His music should catch on, and he's not a bad songwriter either. his name was bob something.... Oh yeah! Dylan. great opening act, but i couldn't figure out why they put the support on AFTER Brian???
Actually, I flew over the Ocean just for that gig (long story) and they wouldn't let anyone dance to Brian. These usher's came 'round telling me to sit down, and threatened me with a lifetime ban to the UNO. Like, a guy from Sheffield is gonna be bothered about being banned from a Uni in New Orleans. I think Brian was pretty annoyed too, cos he walked off twice and said over the mic ' just let the people dance, man, jees'. Oh, and for the record, when Bob came on, everyone rushed the stage and danced all night. Also, although I DO love Bob Dylan's music, he was shit on that night. The only 2 concerts I ever walked out on were both Bob Dylan.
