| I'm not the biggest country fan in the world but everytime Brian does a country song, I love it. 'Gentle on my mind' is a superb song in my book and Brian could do a studio cover that would for sure stand next to Glenn Campbell's or Elvis's. I always loved 'Broken man' off the Rock Therapy lp as well.
It got me thinkin' that he would record an absolutly brilliant country album, would he ever have the desire to do so.
Or is it just me?
If it's not, what songs would you like him to cover?

| That would be great. We already know he loves country music. He picks a mean banjo. I could see a reved up rockabilly/country album with some banjo, honkey tonk piano and pedal steel. He could also make a mean Jazz trio or quartet album. But I bet we're much more likely to see these loved influences to just keep making small appearances in his regular solo albums. Which is great. I love how diverse the solo albums are.
Speaking of albums, I really hope there's still plans on a Rockabilly Riot volume 2.

| I always thought IGNITION was a pretty solid country album. Actually, it may be a little TOO country for pop-country radio, or what passes for "country" these days. And Rockabilly Riot could have EASILY existed on some form of country radio in the past.
That said, I'm all for a "Setzer Goes Country" album, maybe with Pete Anderson producing. He could even work in a little BSO sound on a track or two, (ala Lyle Lovett and His Large Band). That'd be awesome. Yeeee-har!

| The Cat's Grand Ole Opry gig was a blast, I think it was Skunk Baxter on the pedal steel, they had a great country sound, Looking Better Every Beer sounded terrific. IU think that style of country album would fly off the shelves. | |

| There are so many really great country songs, going back to Hank Williams, or even as far back as the Carter Family, that he wouldn't even have to write any original stuff, a la Rockabilly Riot. How about these:
Good Hearted Woman (Waylon) It's Only Make Believe (Conway Twitty) Hey Good Lookin/Your Cheatin' Heart/Cold Cold Heart, etc. (Hank) He'll Have to Go (Jim Reeves) Big John (Jimmy Dean) I Fall to Pieces (Patsy Cline) Walkin the Floor Over You (Ernest Tubb) Dueling Banjos (versus himself!) White Lightning/The Race Is On/The Grand Tour (George Jones) Flowers on the Wall (Statler Bros.)
I was raised in a country music household, so I do know my oldies fairly well...anything after, say, the Oak Ridge Boys or Alabama, and I have no idea!
So, anyway...add to the list!

| This is a great idea, this is the kind of music I acrually buy, when people kinda go off and do something interesting instead of following the same old rut of pop music. It would be cool to see the B covering traditional country and record with the original artist if they are still alive. Hearing Brian trade licks with Willie Nelson would be a trip.

| It's a shame Brian's not bothered about fame and fortune etc (LOL) cos, like Robert Plant has teamed up with Alison Kraus, wouldn't a Brian and Amy Winehouse collaboration work sooo welll???
Whilst i'm on the subject, when do we all think that the Zutons, or Arctics or the like will cover Runaway Boys????
Come on guys, you know EXACTLY what i'm talkin' about! I mean, how valid is that song today???
However, us Yorkshire folk never heard of a lunceonette, it'd have to be modified a little:
get kicked out for comin' 'ome reight late mom and dad gimme such a freight throw tha cloes in' tut adidas bag shoutin' as tha slams do-er - whole bits a drag
We're can a gu tu we're can a stae i'n 'eard a place that's oppen all neight an' all day There's a place tha can gu, we're cops dun't know THa can act reight wild, thi dun't treat thi like a child
Yorkshire Boys
Thee 'airs all greasy and tha feels like a slob only 43 and tha dun't wanna job nip int'ut cafe and 'ave agame o' pool all me cash got nicked by a scouse from Li'pool Nick a couple o' quid to gerra new toy Slip int;ut alley w'it yorkshire Boys
Runnin' faster. faster all't time Thy art jailbait, tha kno-as that's a crime
Yorkshire Boys
