first off all i can say is bring plenty of money were pretty expensive over here, secondly bring plenty of painkillers with you if your a bit of a drinker its nothing compared to what you'll experience over here and the morning after is nothing to look forward to.. thirdly and most importantly is .. just come...pun not intented for all you double entendre people.. we will show you a good time..again i mean that in a most hospitable way.... seriously though you'll have a great time theres lots to do over here and its a great city(i have to say that i'm getting a commision from the irish tourist board)............

| Hey Guys
I'm a Manchester lad but with a brand new baby due on August 26th I can only get (allowed to go) to two gigs. The only question is which two?
The reasoning goes like this.......I was in Glasgow for the Nashvillains gig and had a SUPERB night and Dublin is the LAST ONE!
Anyways...gonna get the train to Glasgow then ferry/plane to Dublin...and miss the only gig I can get the bus to in 20 mins!!!!!!!
Anyone with best advice on places to stay and travel ideas most welcome
BTW Tickets for both gigs arrived pretty quickly and now in a bank vault with armed security guards!

| Being a bit of a dumbkopf with the old technology, i think i have got an extra ticket for Dublin. When it's all sold out or whatever, if anyone wants it, bear me in mind.
By the way, i'm not a ticket tout and i don't want extra bucks for it. Actually, thinking about it, it's bought and paid for, so if someone wants it and they're a nice person, it's up for grabs.
I really am all about the music y'know. And I'm good to boogie
Love and peace

| Hello Bogusbill
First congrats on new baby.......
Jurys Inn Hotel on Jamaica Street Glasgow is within walking distance of Carling Academy where the Cats are playing however at a starting price of £60 per night is a wee bit expensive
http://glasgowhotels.jurysinns.com/
if you want to look at that option......
Also you may want to look at
http://www.gnws.co.uk/html/cheap_hotels.htm
these are more reasonable priced but are however a bit further away from Carling Academy....
Another wee bit of information Glasgow has september weekend holiday I think it is the weekend after the Cats play but just be careful with availability (but dont think it should be a problem)
Hope this is of some help...
Glad you had a good night at Nashvillians concert I was at that one myself and managed to see the Cats when they played Manchester 2004 a great night was had there
anyway all the best for now

Thanks for the info Setzer68CB - much appreciated. Got myself in at the Jurys Inn - only a couple of rooms left when I booked. Guess there are going to be a few quiffs knocking about Glasgow on friday afternoon! Which are the best pubs to head for?

| Nice one, Memphis. Jurys is sold out right now but if your heart's set on that one keep checking - their website guarantees the lowest rates. Follow setzer68cbs' link for less expensive Glasgow lodging. Book now if you can, wherever you stay, that's a busy weekend. Glasgow is dead easy to get around, it doesn't really matter where you stay. There are buses, the underground, taxis... Get a B&B and make sure you get a good breakfast with blood sausage. My only recommendation besides lots of whisky and Irn-Bru! Ryan Air www.ryanair.com, phone 0871 246 0000 Some Ryan Air flights may leave from Prestwick which is a little ways out of the city; watch out for early morning flights. Also keep an eye on specials from Aer Lingus www.aerlingus.com, phone 0845 084 4444. Glasgow Airport website info: http://www.glasgow-airport-uk.info/glasgow-airport-airline-contact-details.htm Not looking at the falling dollar, not looking at the falling dollar.... | |

There are a couple of pubs on street where hotel is McSorleys..... mixture of music and beer there Crystal Palace.......no music as witherspoon pub but is quite a big place and you can get food if you want Hotel is in city centre so there are a lot more places will get back to you with some more all the best for now setzer68cb

| Hi Eskimopie Always thought Irn Bru was used for medicinal purposes i.e Hangover Cure and not a mixer usually when asked what do you mix with whisky reply is more whisky all the best for now Setzer68cb | |

| Disclaimer: whisky and water, whisky and more whisky- please not whisky and Irn-Bru together! That's.... kind of horrifying! | |

Best pub in Glasgow for us Rockabilly's is opposite The Garage nightclub (can't remember it's name, but follow the Goth's and you're there. Also, there are a couple of Backstreet bars just off Sauchiehall that have pretty good Blues bands at weekends. Again, names escape me, but I know exactly where they are. If anyone is up for meeting up to check out some bars on the 'night off', let me know - i'll give ya my mobile (cellphone) number. Gotta stick together huh? Mikey

| Pub nights, flights, whisky, Irn-Bru (but not mixed together!).... not only is it all about the music, it's about the friendships. Looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones. Glasgow's always ready but Dublin, are you??? | |
