Hey everybody. So cool to be part of the Setzer forum. Heres my question other than a tape echo what does Brians Signal chain consist of? Im under the impression that he never uses any sort of overdrive/distortion . Guitar-tape echo- a long chord and the worlds greatest hands.

I don't know his normal setup, but I remember a photo of his stuff on the website during the recording sessions for "Rockabilly Riot, Vol. 1" that included a plain old ordinary Boss Blues Driver pedal. I'm still scratching my head. confused

On The dvd The Guitar Of Brian Setzer he uses a pedal board with quite a few pedals including a Cry Baby, A Tube Screamer & a Chorus pedal, but I think he only used that pedal board around the Choo Choo Hot Fish era. I remember he used Wah Wah in Somethings Wrong With My Radio when I saw them which was very unexpected Smile & on the CD he uses it in Can't Go Back To Memphis. Cross Of love used a very strong Chorus, probably a Roland, seeing Brian appears to like their pedals.

I think he also used the Wah wah for "take a break guys" on Wolfgangs big night out.
The pedals he uses are shown on the hot licks Video. If I remeber correctly, there were two Ibanez Tube-screamers, a chorus, and also a Boss octaver.

Hey guys thanks for all the info. I have the vhs tape where Brian goes over the pedalboard and teaches you how to play "Too hip Gotta Go". I Just dont hear him using anything other than the tape echo anymore . He must play loud as hell live to get that nice warm overdrive. i also noticed on this years xmas tour that there was a small Gretsch combo amp off stage. Not sure if he actually used it at all with that cool Tv Jones jukebox amp siting up there.pretty freaking cool man. By the way your English is better than mine and ive been here for 41 years.

He only plays loud! He used Tube Screamer sometimes in early '90s but only in solos to add sustain and for screaming tubes.
If you play in small club you have to buy a small pont-to-point tube amp ( Victoria 20112,Double Deluxe or Fender 57 Deluxe or something like these).I've got two of them. This kind of amps have a little headroom (or nothing) and a very early breakup and you can pump up the volume that it sounds very compressed adding only gain so you can go very close to that fabulous Setzer sound.Or you can add to your amp a power attenuator (THD Hot Plate ecc. ecc.) that works like a master volume,i use it on my Fender Bassman.
