| Tommy:
A while back you had pictures of Brians bikes and cars. Any thought of putting that back on the site? Curious to know what is in Brians stable at this point in time?
Take care

| I was thinking that myself. Wonder if Brian still has that awesome Harley that's featured on the LNG album? | |

That was an Indian. It was sold years ago and now lives comfortably in Tokyo, Japan. Best, Tommy

| HEY Stray Cat Lover,
You're right. Brian did purchase the car from American Graffiti. I have a book called " Stars and their Cars " and Brian is in there with the burgundy Merc. He had Runaway Boy painted on the trunk. Now the sad part... when Brian was here in '91, he told us that he sold his hot rod from the Rant 'n' Rave album because the wood had rotted through and I also heard that he sold the Merc as it was never really well built from the Studio, as it was never intended to be around after the movie was shot. Brian told us himself about how much work had to be done to it to get it runnin' properly. Sad but true, anyone who's ever mucked around with cars will know what I mean...but we still can't help ourselves!!! But don't despair because there were 2 cars bought for te movie, so maybe your father's car is still out there somewhere!! Cheers Pete.
P.S. I'll see if I can scan the article and pix from that book for you and post them up, O.K.?

| Yeah , my dad says that when he went away in the army , he gave the car to his cousion in San Bernardino to hold for him till he got home, and his cousion ended up crashing the damn car, and messing it all up , he had gotten most of it fixed , but it was never the same ! That is when my dad sold it to the movie company ( Or to a magazine ) something like that , Ill have to ask him, one or the other , I never really got the full story , as I am the baby of the family and this story was old by the time I was able to understand anything about it but anyways, he sold it to "Someone " and they fixed it up even further , ( Dont know how much further) but im sure they did a good enough job to have it in the movie, then I read somewhere years later that Brian bought the car , but was'nt sure if it was true... you know you cant believe everything you read. =) But my dad still talks about his Merc ! He has tons of pictures that hes blown up, he put them all over the walls in his house ! That car was his pride & joy !!!!!!!!!! =) But its gone now, but I know if he found it he would take it back in a heartbeat, no matter what condition its in ! | |

I think you mean this one? However, I don't know the status of it. Ain't that the one that spit hot oil in The Brian's face when he was doing like 80mph?? If so, I don't think it's one of his favorites anymore... Stickin' to the four wheeleers, Budge

| alittle more background on the Graffiti Merc.....George Lucas liked it because it looked like it was built by inexpeirienced kids.....Interior shots were set so that the actors blocked such things as "C" clamps holding the roof on....read it in a book somewhere...may not be true ,but that car definitlry looks different setting on my shelf next to other diecast chopped Mercs | |

| Well my dad was no inexperienced kid when he had the car. My dad has ALWAYS has the best , nicest looking cars out of anybody he hung around with , Hes always had classics. His were always in tip top condition, so It was most likely ruined AFTER he sold it to God knows who... Anyhow. That Merc was bad ass ( Excuse my french ) I wonder of the cars whereabouts .... =( | |

| HEY Stray Cat Lover, How's it goin? As promised, I found that book with your dad's old Merc in it that Brian bought... It only has maybe 1/2 a page of written and some cool pics, but definately worth grabbing if ya find it... ... Sorry to show this to you, but... ...NOT my words! I don't doubt that your dad looked after the car, but what happened after it left his possesion is anyone's guess. Don't take it personally, just at least think that you had a direct link with the King of the Kats! And American Graffiti! | |
