| Brian doesn't use the Chorus part of the Roland Chorus Echo 301. Here's a snap from the Hot Licks DVD showing the pedal set up that he used at that time. From left to right is a cry baby wah pedal. two Ibanez TS10 TubeScreamers (for different amounts of gain) a Boss CE3 Chorus pedal and a Boss Octave pedal. They can be heard a lot on the Choo Choo Hot Fish CD. Nowadays it's the Roland Roland Chorus Echo 301 (which adds a bit of gain as well) straight into the amp, and occasionally a Tremolo pedal. His setup was well explained by ruger9 in an earlier post: https://setzerforum.rpg-board.net/guitar-related-discussion-f3/brian-s-amp-settings-t864.htm

I'm a throw-back on this subject, but here's my opinion, right, wrong or indifferent: Try to play as well as Brian not necessarily to sound like him and you'll be miles ahead of the game. It's ok to go for the sound, but, aim to understand where he, or any super-player, is coming from and you'll become the best danged "your name here" on the planet. | |
