A friend of mine died today....

This has nothing to do with Brian or the Cats.....but I just had to post a little message here....

My friend Robert Hazard died today. Unknown to a lot of people outside of the Northeastern U.S., he meant a lot to many of us in this region. I spoke to him 3 weeks ago about the Stray Cats Farewell tours. He loved Brian's music and followed what The Brian was up to. Well....Robert is gone and the quickness of his death from pancreatic cancer should remind all of us how fragile our lives are. The tour he just planned and the record he was about to release are meaningless now....all we have are memories. In the blink of an eye a friend can be reduced to 10 paragraphs in the morning paper or a hit on "Google". Appreciate your friends and always let them know you loved them.

Sorry to hear that Tommy, but I guess times like these make you appreciate the friends and family that are around you.
We recentely had an 18 year old pass away from an accident, and even though we didn't know her, our friends sadness was not a pleasant thing to experience.

So sorry, Tommy...Robert Hazard to us in this area was an icon. His music was a big impact thru out our H.S. years...and on.

I hear you about appreciating your friends, since I just lost one of my most dearest just recently. Hold on to the good times with them, for it goes by all too quickly.

If he's still in your remembrance he's not dead, he's only away not dead.
Dead is only who is forgotten.

Very sorry to hear that Tommy. Things like that make you stop and think and realise how everything can be taken away in a flash. Family and friends are the most important things in life and like you said, letting them know we love them is so important. Take care my friend.

I can't really think of something I could write that would fit in here and wouldn't sound stupid, but I just want to say you have my condolences.

Pancreatic cancer is the same illness that took Randy Pausch last week (the Last Lecture Professor). Hopefully, this will bring awareness (and funding) towards the cause.

Sorry for your loss, T. But what nice legacies these two guys have left!

Thanks all you guys (and gals). I really appreciate the posts. Robert's death really shook up Philly and it's not sunk in yet that we'll never be able to fire up the Olds and go see him play again. I'll miss emailing him in the middle of the night, chatting about music and Phily. Helps to have friends like you all though. I suppose that what life is all about.....
