Dagnabbit, Budgie, you beat me to it!
My name is Eddie. I'm old enough to have seen the Cats in '82 in Omaha, NE. Opening act was The
Bus Boys! Also, saw The Police in Omaha that summer. Opening act was The (English) Beat!
Good times! Wifey-to-be went with me to both those shows, plus many others, and she's always been
a fan of honky-tonk country. She had no idea what The police was! We have 4 young'ns, 12 up to 23.

They all are or were banders from middle school through high school.

I like to quote movies.

"Nobody calls me Francis. Call me Francis and I'll kill ya. And nobody touches my stuff. Touch my stuff and I'll kill ya! Nobody touches me. So if any of you homo's touch me, I'll kill ya!"
-Psycho (Stripes)

"Settle down, Francis!"

Hey all,
my name is Peter - grew up in NY, spent an amazing year in Nashville in '96. From there it was NJ until this past December when I moved to Florida. I started playing guitar in 3rd grade and if you heard me now you'd swear I was at least in 5th grade. Very Happy
I first heard about the Cats when a drummer I was working with showed up the day after the "Fridays" appearance saying that he saw something that blew him away. We immediately added Rockabilly to our Beatles/Garage Rock repertoire.
I played the bar scene for quite a few years; but the band slowly (and gracefully) aged to the point of meeting in Mexican restaurants and getting home by eleven!
I'm getting married in less than two months to a great girl who has yet to see a Cats/BSO show; but she bops everytime she hears the cd's in the car.
Love the Beatles, Americana (Uncle Tupelo, Jayhawks, etc), Petty, Marshall Crenshaw, and all things Setzer. Also love the Yanks, Packers and soccer.
I'm thrilled to be meeting so many great people here in the Forum.
Tommy, you're making the world a smaller, happier place!

burner1, I'm glad to hear this from someone (who knows someone) who saw it when it aired. Every time I watch the "Fridays" clips on YouTube I'm entranced, and I wonder if it's just me or if it was that electrifying when people saw it for the first time in 1981.

Glad to meetcha, this is a great place to hang out! I've only been around for a month or so and already feel like family. You will too if ya stick around long enough!

TOBY KIETH
I LOVE THIS BAR
We got winners, we got losers
Chain smokers and boozers
And we got yuppies, we got bikers
We got thristy hitchhikers
And the girls next door dress up like movie stars

Hmm, hmm, hmm I love this bar

We got cowboys, we got truckers
Broken-hearted fools and suckers
And we got hustlers, we got fighters
Early birds and all-nighters
And the veterans talk about their battle scars

Hmm, hmm, hmm I love this bar

[Chorus:]
I love this bar
It's my kind of place
Just walkin' through the front door
Puts a big smile on my face
It ain't too far, come as you are
Hmm, hmm, hmm I love this bar

I've seen short skirts, we got high-techs
Blue-collar boys and rednecks
And we got lovers, lots of lookers
And I've even seen dancing girls and hookers
And we like to drink our beer from a mason jar

Hmm, hmm, hmm I love this bar
Yes I do

I like my truck (I like my truck)
I like my girlfriend (I like my girlfriend)
I like to take her out to dinner
I like a movie now and then

But I love this bar
It's my kind of place
Just trollin' around the dance floor
Puts a big smile on my face
No cover charge, come as you are
Hmm, hmm, hmm I love this bar
Hmm, hmm, hmm I love this bar

We got divorcees and a big bouncer man
An old jukebox and a real bad band
We got waitresses and we got barflies
A dumb-ass and a wise-guy
If you get too drunk just sleep out in your car

Reason number 672 why

Hmm, hmm, hmm I love this bar
Play it on out boys
Beer-thirty's over
Got to take it on home

Hmm, hmm, hmm I love this bar
I just love it

My name is Michael, 32, male. I live in South Switzerland and I speak 4 languages. I'm a graphic/web designer and work for 2 companies: one does advertising, the other imports food. I love rockabilly music, I'm interested in dogs, UFOs, natural history, anime. I discovered the Cats around 1996, long after Ritchie Valens, Buddy Holly, Fats Domino and all.

Yes Andi, after hearing my buddy describe the Friday's appearance I really felt that I had missed something. He went on and on talking about the visuals (upright bass, pomps and a drummer standing up!) as well as the energy that the three guys put out. I guess he wa a pretty good judge of talent!!!

My name is Cori, I'm 26 and I'm currently teaching summer school. I grew up here in southern California, listening to lots of jazz, thanks to my parents. I first technically saw the cats on the Mother Goose Rock 'n Rhyme movie - I think i was about 7 or 8. I got into the BSO in high school, round about 98-99, saw my first BSO concert as a graduation present at the Santa Barbara Bowl in 2000, and have been hooked ever since.
I got sidetracked by salsa dancing/music in college, but I always loved dressing up and going out swing dancing at the Madonna Inn when I could.
I've never seen the Cats live, and reeeeely wanted to this summer, but funds are short thanks to student loans and with no car, it would have been really tricky to get down there...
so thats me...

Hey gang...My name is Amity and I live near Valley Forge, PA. I am 30, married and have two daughters 6 and 8.

It was really the first BSO Xmas album that sparked my interest in Brian. I guess from there I dove into Stray Cats.

I have seen the BSO Xmas show the past two years and will again come this November. Also anxiously awaiting a Cats US Tour.

Aside from Setzerville, I like to camp, backpack, cook, watch old movies and listen to old music. I don't listen to AM/FM Radio anymore but instead prefer internet radio where I can find my favorite tunes. I consider myself an old soul and firmly believe I was born in the wrong era. Next to Brian, Frank Sinatras my man.

Hey folks,
I am Steve,a 41 year old obsessive Stray Cats fan.Truly.From first hearing Rock This Town as a new release on Radio 1,my life has been dominated by my love of this band.Just ask the long suffering wife,Helen...been together 22 years, married nearly 8.Have a gorgeous daughter,Katie, who turns 5 in July. Can't wait to take her out Rockin' with me.
Anyway I've been a Cab driver for 17 years in Derby which is near Robin Hood country(I don't like to use the Nottingham word-football rivalry!) for those that don't know.
I drive a London style taxi but unfortunately our council makes us spray them a sickly yellow.New York it ain't!
I have recently started a website for airport transfers which is going great although sleep is getting rarer.(2am to Manchester this morning for example)
First saw the Cats live in '89 and have caught every Setzer UK tour since.Missed the Nashvillains Glasgow gig as I'd just moved house the week before and was skint. Was pretty depressed working that night I can tell ya.Booked in for Manchester & Dublin this time, can't wait.
Oh, and finally I'm really proud of my Setzer tattoo, show it off at the drop of a hat, though these days have to suck the belly in first!
Great forum.
Cheers
Steve

Hi I'm Jon(athan). Born in 1963 and raised in Chiswick, West London.

Trained as a navigation officer in the merchant navy. Got disillusioned in 1986 and went to Denmark for a bit of sabbatical. Spent a couple of years there and then a year in Iceland, before finally settling down in Denmark.

Been married for 13 (13 my god!) years to Dorthe, have 2 sons, Chris(11) and Carsten(6) and a Labrador - King.

I work in the oil industry and am responsible for the maintenance painting of about 50 offshore assets.

My first musical memories are from around the middle of the 70's T-Rex, The Sweet, Suzie Quatro etc. Then the advent of punk. Then..... STRAY CATS. Followed all The Brians projects through the years and have seen the cats a few times. I am still waiting to see the BSO for the first time.
Don't play any instruments although I have sung with a couple of bands (for fun).

Looking forward to meeting up with like minded people in Copenhagen and possibly London.

Have a rockin' summer.

Hello, everyone!

I'm Chris. Born in North Dakota, grew up in Minnesota. Was a hockey player, and many other sports, but hockey's my favorite. I'm a huge fan of college hockey (Go Sioux!), and like Alka-Setzer, I mostly just watch nowadays (and The Blues Brothers is my favorite movie!).

I didn't really get into music all that much until I turned 12 or 13, when I dug out some of my mom's Aerosmith and Van Halen CDs. From there, I really got into rock, mostly '70s (man... wish I coulda grew up in the '70s). I knew my dad was a big Rolling Stones fan, so I became one, too. In fact, for a long time they were my favorite band - until one day in the car at work, I heard a song on the radio.

"Dad, who's this?" I said. He told me he went to see the Stones in Minneapolis* in '82, and the Stray Cats opened.

That was it. Now, the Stones are 2nd in my book, only to the Stray Cats!

ROCKABILLY RULES!

*EDIT - True, in '82?
