Depending on where you are located in this big spinnin' planet of love, let's say that TONIGHT (10 February 2008) is Wolfgang's real big night out.

Later today, the Grammy Award for "Best Classical Crossover Album" will be given out in Los Angeles. I'll assume that you all know that the Brian Setzer Orchestra's slow-burning masterpiece, "Wolfgang's Big Night Out" has been nominated for said award.

Best of luck Brother B. You really deserve this one. The work that went into "Wolfie" by you, Mr. Comstock, Double D, the stellar BSO and DK (of DKM) simply must be rewarded. With respect to the other nominees, this is the Year of the Wolf.

Wolfie is definitely a standout in this category. I'm not sure if this category has a special set of voters, or if the entire NARAS voting body gets to choose. For example, do the voters with a classical background vote in the rap categories? In my opinion, it would seem the more voters that are allowed in this category, the better the BSO's chances. 3 of the other nominees in this the Classical Crossover area have previous nominations in it, while the BSO is a newcomer to the category. Hopefully, the breath of fresh air Brian has provided amidst the string quartet and orchestral works will be recognized.

Not getting the Grammy doesn't take away one bit of the greatness of WBNO.

Let's face it, folks. These are the same geniuses who awarded 5 Grammys to Amy Winehouse tonight -- and they've been giving awards to Kanye West for years. It's great that they've occasionally gotten it right, but it's no surprise when they get it wrong, but honestly, who cares? Brian rocks! Period.
