| Between Gretsch G6120SSLVO's and G6120SSU's, apart from their appearances? Pretty much everything is the same except for that the G6120SSLVO has a Nitro-Cellulose Lacquer finish and the G6120SSU has a Urethane finish, yet the G6120SSLVO is $350 more. Also, how do the Hot Rods compare to these guitars? How do the Brian Setzer models compare to White Falcons?
I'm asking because lately I've been dreaming of buying a Gretsch, I was actually about to buy a 120th Anniversary Edition, but ended up buying a Strat and a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe for less money than it would have been for the one guitar. After, I still had the craving for a Gretsch and was going to get a G5120 but I've decided to save up my money for a High-end Gretsch. I was also wondering if anyone knew if you can get a bit of a deal in Japan where they're made, as I may be traveling there in the summer.
Maybe this is more of a question for the Gretsch forums haha.
Thank you | |

| Finish, and that is all personal preference and only you can decide what you like. Nitro will age and poly will keep a shiney appearence. Feel is differnt, caring for them is different.
I have a Green Setzer and it is poly and I have a Phoenix, Rev. HH, and they are Nitro, and all are great | |

| Art/Digger, I don't have the $ for a good G, but with my old Strat and other Tele, I also think Nitro is the way to go...I have played semi hollow Urethane guitars and had a chance to play lighter thickness Nitro finishs and think that the sound is different playing softly. Then again wouldn't you want NITRO just BECAUSE of the name?? | |
