| HEY GANG!!
Just spent the week end at out Kustom Kulture Week Ender... 40 degree weather...3 days and nights in a pub...LOTS of beer...
What was I gonna post?? Oh yeah....
Anyways, all you players out there, what was your defining moment in learning an instrument that made you realize " hey, I can do this! "
Mine was when I learnt the solo and changes to Stray Cat Strut and realized that if I threw in some " blues " notes that I could improvise! Before that everything that I learnt HAD to be ' by the book '.
I realized that making something my own or making my own music was what was gonna make me a better and happier player.
Hows about youse?? Cheers Pete.

| For me it was , when I bought my first electric guitar. This one: Before I had this guitar I never thought, that I'm quite good, but after I had this guitar I realized, thta I can have the same sopund like the musicians on the Cd's I was listening to. So I Started playing a lot with Cd's and became much better. | |

| my "moment" was in the early 80`s. I played a afternoon gig with some amazing blues-musicians. They were in town and in the afternoon time there was a jamsession with these guys. So, i went on stage (i was 17) and played the blues. After a while a big crowd of people were listen and enjoyed what we did. I played a couple a of gigs in the last 25 years, but this session was the best i ever did. cu | |

| My moment was freshmen year college 5 years ago. I bought a crappy student guitar wanting to play nothing but rockabilly. Well I couldnt get it worked out. Then I finally figured out an E chord and from there I figured out Come On Everybody, I was ecstatic. I then did those first four noted of rumble in brighton a million times. Just basic stuff and now I'm to the point where I can play the intro to Switchblade 327. I never thought I'd be able to play something that hard. Wolfgangs night out, forget it. I cant figure out anything in there, at all. | |

| HEY Hotrodtodd,
Ya couldn't of picked a better place than Adelaide to have a Pale Ale, home of the Coopers Brewery........I live about 3 blocks down from old factory.......there's almost a cult like Coca Cola in Oz about Copperes Pale Ale.
Yeah, I used to critize my playing ALL the time, 'till I realized that it was holding me back. We all wanna be Brian or Stevie or whoever but, they all wanna be someone else as well I guess! I've now learnt to enjoy what I do and try to expand my playing rather than imitate.
Can understand your feelings about band issues!! I finally found a bunch of guys that I've known for 20+ years and there's NO EGOS OR DRUGS!!! JUST MUSIC!!
Catch in Oz for a quiet one!! Cheers Pete.

| Pete, If I can manage to get there for My wifes birthday in 2010 ill let you know so we can hook up for a pint. Bands are tricky at best. Glad your have fun playing with your buddys. Some of my best musical memories are just hanging out with friends and hacking our way thru old songs having a good time. It seems that ive never been in a band where everyone is on the same page. this guys 1/2 commited this guys happy. this guy wants to take the band in a different direction. Im gonna take a little time off and rethink things. Happy easter man. Todd | |
