BRIAN`S First gold record

howdy!!
bit of info for all die hard cats/brian fans:Yep,brian got his first gold record from FINLAND,that was in april 1981 from first Stray Cats lp,which sold over 25.000 copies at that time(later it went nearly 40.000),pretty well,Finland had about 4,5 million citizens at that time. Finnish teenmagazine SUOSIKKI did many stories from them from late 1980 onwards(some very cool photos and posters).

Right you are Juice! And Finland still loves Brian & the Cats! Ahhhhhhh Helsinki, what a beautiful town! What was the name of the popular beer there? Home of Gofin' Records as well!

I thought gold meant a record sold 500,000 copies. Or is that just in the states?

A gold record certification is in proportion to the size of the country. For instance in the U.K. A gold record award is 100,000 copies, which is about how many records the Stray Cats or Brian sell in your home state of Ohio!

One of my favorite pieces in the Scatman Archive is a Gold Record Award
from the Netherlands for the first album (Stray 1) recognizing
total sales of "50,000" copies (yes, Fifty Thousand).

Looks great next to the UK Gold Record (100,000 copies) I also have.
